ACCIONA Energy has been awarded the installation of a 49.5 megawatt (MW) wind park in Canada. The decision was announced by the Prime Minister of New Brunswick, the Atlantic coast province where the facility will be located. With an investment of 103.5 million Canadian dollars (69 million euros), the Lamèque wind park will consist of thirty-three 1.5 MW ACCIONA Windpower turbines of in-house technology.

The 'Punto de Vista International Documentary Film Festival' is starting. The festival, from 15 to 23th of February, was created in homage of the French filmmaker Jean Vigo, an essential reference in this genre, inviting participants to open their eyes and look beyond appearances.

University of Navarra PhD in chemistry researcher, Esther Vicente, has discovered new compounds active for treating tuberculosis and malaria. Her thesis, defended at the School of Sciences, describes the synthesis and characterisation of 65 derivatives of quinoxaline, the structure of which is similar to a number of antimalalarial and antituberculosis pharmaceutical drugs currently on the market.

The researcher Francisco José Moleres has received the 2nd Juan Abelló Pascual Prize from the Spanish Royal Academy of Doctors for his dissertation, which was defended at the School of Sciences of the University of Navarra. The annual award distinguishes the best research presented in Spain concerning analytic methods in Biochemistry, and is accompanied by a cash award of 1,593 euros.
