Saturday, 14 July 2007

The Group of giants and figures with huge heads said goodbye in a very special and moving way, in fact more moving than usual since apart from concluding the celebrations of San Fermín we also said goodbye to his home during the last thirty six years since 1971, the hangar of the old bus station located in the building of Tudela street-Count Oliveto avenue.

The public said goodbye to the group of giants and figures with huge heads with the traditionals dances and some tears this afternoon surrounded by hundreds of children who witnessed how these characters moved away from his home since 1971, the bus station. Dummies hanging over the hands of the giants, kisses, tears and many goodbyes and memories leaded this ceremony which closes a cycle of thirty six years.

After the eighth of San Fermín and the escort of the municipal Corporation till the Town Hall, the group came back to its premise where the ceremony was followed for more than half an hour by the folk clamour and emotion. The twenty five stone figures are the most loved characters all the celebration together with the saint and it is one of the nicest shows of the Sanfermines together with the running of bulls especially when they dance carried by youngs at the pace of the music of pipers and txistularis.

The new bus station will be able to hold the giants and figures with huge heads. The Town Hall booked a pentagonal room of five hundred metres long for the group. It will be located in the second floor where giants will have enough room to practise. The premise will be seven metres high what let giants move independently which reach only four metres. The new room multiplied by five the surface which the group has today in Tudela street which by the way doesn´t come to one hundred square metres.
