Lumbier brings back to life its noisy tradition on the eve of Epiphany

Wednesday, 02 January 2008

Arm yourself with old pots, pans or any other metal object suitable for making noise and come to Lumbier on Saturday 5 January to participate in a tradition that dates back to biblical times: The Night of the Cauldrons.

The noise of the cauldrons serves to help the Three Kings find the road to Lumbier while frightening off evil spirits.

There are two noise-making events. At 11.00 am the town’s children tie their pots and pans with ropes and drag them around the streets to guide the Three Kings and prevent them from getting lost in the fog that surrounds Lumbier.

The adults will take over at 11.00 pm. If you like noise, be sure to come, the racket is assured...
