The 'Punto de Vista International Documentary Film Festival' is starting. The festival, from 15 to 23th of February, was created in homage of the French filmmaker Jean Vigo, an essential reference in this genre, inviting participants to open their eyes and look beyond appearances.
This year, the festival will be presenting the best works subsidised by the Asian Network of Documentaries, as well as a retrospective on Silence with films by Sergei Loznitsa and Nora Martirosyan, among others.
The works that have been most acclaimed by public and critics alike in Yamagata, Paris, Sao Paulo and New York will be featured in a section called The Central Region, while The Hand that Looks challenges seven directors to explore the possibilities of mobile telephones.
In addition, this year’s festival will take a close look at the professional career of Ermanno Olmi and will be attended by Nicolas Philibert, who will present his latest film, Return to Normandy, and give a workshop on his documentary opus.
