Spinners, bobbin lacemakers, potters... up to twenty ancient trades will meet at the Plaza de los Fueros in Alsasua as part of the Fair of the May Cross.
Undoubtedly the favourite product at the fair for the past sixteen years, outdoing wood carvings, baskets and glass ornaments, is the txistorra sausage prepared by the townspeople of Alsasua for everyone’s enjoyment.
The fair began in the 1970s but soon disappeared. Since it was recovered, it has become one of the most important fairs in the town and surrounding villages.
It is not just a market, but a true fair in which craftspeople give demonstrations of their work. So watch and learn.
