The chupinazo on Sunday sparks off 9 days of uninterrupted feasting

Thursday, 03 July 2008

The crowds will fill the Plaza Consistorial in Pamplona on Sunday 6 July. Thousands of people will wave red scarves above their heads and their voices will rise in unison, crying “¡Viva San Fermín! Gora San Fermin!” when a rocket is launched from the town hall balcony at 12.00 noon. This will mark the beginning of nine days of feasting.

The chupinazo is really only the starting point of the feast. It is followed by thousands of activities for all ages. At 1.30 pm at the Plaza de los Fueros, the dantzaris will participate in a folkloric dancing festival.

At 5.00 pm the marching band and the giants and bigheads leave from the bus station.

At 6.30 pm, there will be a bull fight on horseback at the Bull Ring. At 8.00 pm, vespers at the chapel of San Fermín. There will also be fireworks, concerts, open air dances, regional music and much more.
