San Fermin Brunch

Sunday, 06 July 2008

One more year, every sixth of July thousands of citizens get up early in the morning and have their traditional ‘brunch’, getting ready for the Chupinazo (the firing of the rocket which inaugurates the festivals).

This is a traditional breakfast, copious as a lunch, placed indoors or outdoors, anywhere in the street where there is room enough to join a group of friends.

Las Peñas and bars in Pamplona are totally crowded already. Eggs and txistorra, meat, ajoarriero, criadillas, menuditos… these are some of the typical meals served in San Fermin. It will always go accompanied with red wine, sidra, kalimotxo and sangria. And of course, all of this brightened up by the chants of people eager to knotted once the red Headscarf the neck of San Fermin.

With a full stomach and surrounded by the best company, is, undoubtedly, the best way to deal with the beginning of a festival that is about to start with the chupinazo in the Town Hall Square.
