The Mayor of Pamplona, Yolanda Barcina, has handed over the prize of the VIII International Fireworks Competition 2007 to the Pyrotechnics Valencia (Valencia). Its performance over the past Sanfermines has been recognized as the best collection of fireworks. The trophy, awarded by the city of Pamplona, was picked up by the representative of the pyrotechnics, Alfonso Badía. The trophy, entitled Meteor, is the work of the Navarre sculptor Javier Muro. This first prize, for the first time, is endowed with 7,000 euros.
The jury of the contest awarded the highest score in the Pyrotechnics Valencia, who served on July the 11th 2007, by offering a smart castle, well built with a fabulous rhythm.
This collection was configured as a classic show with some digital details. Last year the Valencian fireworks won the second prize.
In fact, during the ceremony, held at the reception of the Town Hall, has also delivered the second prize of the contest, worth 4,000 euros and the trophy Diario de Navarra, the pyrotechnics of Lliria Antonio Caballer, Valencia. The award was collected by Miguel Zamorano Caballer, in the hands of Virgil Sagües, Information SA.
The collection of this pyrotechnics of July the 9th, last year, was highlighted by its castle structured and worked with masters and quality. The failure of the prizes took place last year on June the 14th at 11.55 p.m. right after the last collection of Sanfermines.
Participants at the Ninth Contest
Today, July the 8th, Pamplona will enjoy the collection of Pyrotechnics Zaragozana, the third company that competes in the ninth edition and the International Fireworks Competition organised by the municipality of Pamplona, in collaboration with Diario de Navarra.
Following the collection of Vicente Caballer which took place yesterday, and the Italian Parente Fireworks, which opened the contest on Sunday, July the 6th, the Pyrotechnics Gori Valencia (July the 9th), Pyrotechnics Valencia (July the 10th) and Pyrotechnics Thomas Castellon (July the 11th) will also compete in the contest these Sanfermines. The performance of the Pyrotechnics Morsani (Italy) will take place on Saturday and one of the Pyrotechnics Zamorano Caballer (Valencia) will be on July the 13th. The Pyrotechnics Quiles, also from Valencia, will be the last collection of the festival.
There will also be a special mention for the most popular collection awarded by the public. The public can show their preferences through the ballot published for that purpose and the coupons published every day in Diario de Navarra.
A new compulsory modality
The city of Pamplona, in this edition has added something new: a section of compulsory effects known as The Curtain, placed at the opposite side of the Revellín de Santa Lucia (next to the new bus station). These effects may be made by old age fireworks and must be accompanied by the traditional aerial fireworks.
This show effects, which were inaugurated in Sanfermines 2008, is launched from the Royal Baluarte, while the rest of the collection is launched from the Baluarte de Santa Maria de Ciudadela.
