Hundreds of children accompanied Saint Fermin

Wednesday, 09 July 2008

Hundreds of parents and grandparents took their children this morning at 11 am to offer flowers to Saint Fermin, to the `Rincon de la Aduana´ during this day dedicated to the little ones. The children gave red and white flowers to the Saint, with a million of smiles.

The offer took place after a special ceremony, a homily read by Santos Villanueva and Jesús Labari, and the General Vicar Luis Oroz.

The priest Santos Villanueva reminded the attendants that these festivities are mainly a religious event, and dropped a few jokes to the young parents who, according to him discover, when having their first child, the real sanfermines under the light of the sun.

Ten children between 8 and 12 years old prayed their wishes. They remembered all the children in the world, and asked for happiness during the festivals to all citizens and visitors.

The Episcopal delegate at the social media department, Santos Villanueva, joint the pray from the children reminding the importance of integration of immigrants in our society.

The `Rincon de la Aduana´ became rapidly flowered. There was a long queue of children, immersed in their excitement for kissing the Saint. An eight days old baby girl was the youngest one at the homage. There were `jotas´ (typical songs) interpreted by `Gracia Navarra´, which was directed by Elena Leache.

At the end of the worship, the youngest ones followed the Giants and company (Gigantes y cabezudos) across the old town of Pamplona.
