Located on the banks of the river Queiles, very close to the town of Tulebras, we find the female monastery of Santa María de la Caridad, built in the 12th century.
It contains one of the best-preserved collections of religious art from the 16th, 17th and 18th centuries in Spain. Among the works, there is a painted altarpiece depicting the Dormition of the Virgin and a panel with the Holy Trinity.
Every Saturday and Sunday, from August to December 2008, you can enjoy the beauty and serenity afforded by the icons and sculptures of baroque virgins. If you seek tranquillity and privacy or just want to get away from your busy routine, don’t think twice about it —join a tour of this particular museum and enter a world of spiritual harmony.
