This far into the summer and after a fortnight on the beach, the idea of returning to the hot sands and salty water did not appeal to me. All of a sudden, we discovered that the Bértiz Tourist Board offered guided tours of the Leurtza Reservoirs on Wednesdays and Saturdays.
Without further ado, we donned our training shoes and rucksacks and went off to that green landscape. The breeze bringing those clean, fresh mountain scents was the perfect complement to the sun.
The tour barely lasted an hour and a half but offered a pleasant walk around the reservoir, accompanied by a guide who explained various aspects of nature.
