Some of the best voices on the international panorama will gather in Pamplona to honour the genius Gayarre
Friday, 19 September 2008
Only the best tenors, baritones, sopranos, and mezzo-sopranos have reached the finals of the 12th Julián Gayarre International Singing Competition, and only a few will be victorious. Would you like to see it live? Go on Friday to the Gayarre Theatre at 8.00 pm and enjoy the magical voices of the most fashionable nightingales.
The Julián Gayarre International Singing Competition has been held in Pamplona since 1986 and its participants include such renowned performers as María Bayo, Manuel Lanza and Ofelia Sala.
This year, the Competition will have a very special honorary chair —the mezzo-soprano Teresa Berganza. The award ceremony will take place on Saturday 20 September. The event will include a concert in honour of the Navarrese violinist Pablo Sarasate, to coincide with the anniversary of his death.
