Cattle: Six bulls of Alcurrucén (the first, the second and the sixth were from the brand of Lozano Hermanos). Well presented but unequal, with good face but lacklustre, without thoroughbred. Only the third bull standed out. It was noble and was clapped in its dying.
Enrique Ponce: Strong whistles and silence after a warning.
Manuel Jesús “El Cid”: Silence in both bulls.
Salvador Cortés: Two bull´s ear and silence.
President: Ignacio Pérez Cabañas, with the advise of Julio Fernández de Manzanos and Emilio de Hita. He was very generous for awarding the second ear to Manuel Jesús “EL Cid”. He was bad in general.
Incidences: The bullring was full. The evening was pleasant with some clouds. The second bull injured a horse. Curro Robles emphasized with the banderillas. Salvador Cortés opened the main door.
The pamploneses don´t deserve a bullfight like this one. Why did the Casa de Misericordia took on The Alcurrucen´s bulls? Perhaps due to the demand of the outstanding bullfighters.
The bullfight was a sucession of oxen that started with two bad bulls without the possibility of give good passes. The rest of the bulls had better conditions. In any case, they were unbearable and insufferable.
The Alcurrucén said goodbye yesterday to the Feria del Toro of Pamplona for ever. We preferred watching the Miranda de Pericalvo or even the Marqués de Domecq and Osborne´s bulls.
Least success
With this raw material, the bullfighting was poor and bored.
Only one of the six bulls was better than his brothers. The third, Gavilán, light bull, like a bullock. Perhaps better in fairs like Burgos and Albacete. In Marbella? No, not there because of his face (too much serious and big).
Cortés, was worth seeing in his labour. He started in the middle of the ring like Castella, with passes in the back, but less refined style. He was settled down in two series with the right hand in front of a docile little bull that repeated endlessly. In the second serie of natural passes, Gavilán was shortening its way.
The bullfighter from Mairena de Aljarafe came to the right hand, but without brightness. After a lacklustre performance, he killed the bull with a death blow. A rainy red scarfs all over the grandstands made the presidente award to the winner of the Feria for the moment.
However, Cortés could do it better with the third bull in evening, a little importance one. So, the reward was excesive, and the prize was unfair, because with one ear had been recompensed.
Cortés, winner of 2005 Feria, tried again with the sixth bull, a dark brown one, but it didn't butt correctly and stopped repeat edly. So he received much more he did, and he will come back again next year.
Enrique Ponce committed a mistake because he didn´t try his best in the first bull. He definied this bull as one of the third worst bulls he had ever seen. An he would have killed about 3,000 bulls. It was impossible to give any good passes. Ponce took notice of that fact so he tried to do better in his second bull. He invented a set of passes and showed his experience, but the bull didn´t accompanied him.
El Cid didn´t have good bulls. In spite of that he tried to do a good fight.
