Dangerous and exciting running of the bulls from Fuente Ymbro with a gored.

The Chronicle of the Encierro. 13/07/2006.

The seventh and penultimate running of the bulls has been very dangerous and exciting , although as the days before, very fast (2 minutes and 32 seconds).

This bullcattle (Fuente Ymbro) from Cádiz made its first appearance in Pamplona last year, and was prized in the Feria as the best bulls. In its second time in the encierrros, the animals have had a brave behaviour and they seem to be as good as the others. They ran very fast from the beginning on Santo Domingo Street and they were a thoroughbred bulls, very similar to the six of 2005.

From the start of Santo Domingo, the herd got stretched and one of the bulls rushed at a mozo and gored him in his left gluteus. In Estafeta Street there have been many falls. This situation has caused a lot of danger between the fallen mozos. The bulls and the oxen have run separately.

There were some tries of goring before getting the bullring. In the arena the oxen and the dobladores guided the bulls to the poultry yard.

BEHAVIOUR IN THE ENCIERRO

The ‘victorinos' will run again the encierro in Pamplona on July the 14th, just one year after their debut in the Sanfermines. There was a great excitement the first time these bulls ran in the streets because of their strength. They were the fastest bulls of the San Fermín fair, and nobody was gored by them. Only two people needed assistance at hospitals by traumatism.

Duration: 2 minutes 15 seconds Average speed: 22.0 km/h

Apart from this reference, we can gather more information about them from the bulls of Victorino's nephew, Adolfo Martín, with three encierros in Pamplona.

July 9, 1999 . That day the length of the encierro was 2.45 minutes and 18 kms./ hour the average speed. It was a fast course with a little pile at the entrance of the bullring. The danger came from the crowd, not from the bulls.

July 8, 2000 . Only one person was gored. Montgomery Doiel, from USA , was gored at the buttock in Estafeta Street. The crowd, the inexperience of some foreign people and the slippery floor were the cause of many falls.
